Catalogue Note

Howard Hughes gave this brooch to Katharine Hepburn during their courtship in the late 1930s. She wore the brooch casually, as well as in the 1945 film 'Without Love,' which also starred Spencer Tracy. It originally sold at the Sotheby's New York auction of her Estate in 2004 for $120,000.
