Description

  • sapphire, diamond, white gold
Each centring on an oval sapphire weighing 11.11 carats, framed by brilliant-cut diamonds altogether weighing approximately 4.05 carats, mounted by 18 karat white gold, with clip and post fittings.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gübelin and GRS reports, the two sapphires are natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating. According to GRS, the two sapphires are of matching, vivid blue colour, classified as GRS-type "Royal Blue" colour. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the sapphires are well-matched, of intense blue colour, eye clean with good live. Upon 10x loupe, there are silks and fingerprint inclusions, with tiny nicks on facet edges, but all these internal features are not seen to naked eyes. Diamonds are about F to G colours, VS clarity. Condition: Karat white gold mounts, with pendant hooks on the back, in very good condition.

Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by GRS and Gübelin reports numbered GRS2013-052588, GRS2013-052590 and 14067004 / 1 and 2 respectively, stating that the sapphires are natural, of Burmese origin, vivid blue (GRS type "Royal Blue") colour, with no indications of heating.
