Catalogue Note

"Gerzso’s painting is a system of allusions rather than a system of forms. In his pictures, colors, lines and masses play the game of echoes and correspondences. This painting tells no story, it speaks but appears to say nothing; the forms and colors that the eye sees point toward another reality. In all Gerzso’s pictures there is a secret, invisible but actual. His painting indicates its existence, behind the canvas."
