Condition
Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down and t-hinged to the mount at the upper two corners. The upper edge is slightly unevenly cut and there are two artist's pinholes to the centre of the upper edge. There is a tear (approx. 4mm) to the centre of the left edge (not visible when framed) and a further tiny nick to the upper part of the left edge. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there is a tiny spot of foxing to the lower left quadrant. This work is in overall good condition.

The present work is a portrait of Liese Schmidtbonn, née Treuer, who married the German playwright Wilhelm Schmidtbonn in 1905. The work was gifted to the Schmidtbonns by the artist as a token of their close friendship.
