Catalogue Note

Together with a setting pin, a winding box and a presentation box.

Introduced in 2012, ref 6102 is based on ref 5102 'Celestial', an astronomical wristwatch and one of the most important horological complications ever developed by Patek Philippe.  The watch depicts the planisphere of the northern hemisphere with an integrated moon-phases display, successfully reproducing the configuration of the visible sky with the apparent movement of the Milky Way, the position of the moon, and its progressing phases within a lunar cycle. For this important invention, Patek Philippe were awarded a Swiss Patent for the base calibre (CH688 171 B5).  The more advanced version ref 6102 'Celestial with date' has a redesigned case and date indication on the outer rim of the dial.  Available exclusively in platinum, according to our research, this is the first time ref 6102P has been offered in auction.
