Catalogue Note

With a Greubel Forsey certificate, instruction manual, magnifying glass and presentation box.

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey launched the brand Greubel Forsey in 2004 at Basel World with the introduction of their Double Tourbillon 30° (DT30). The two genius minds had been working together since 1992 at Renaud & Papi, where they developed complicated watch movements.

In 2010, the Edition Historique was launched to commemorate the closure of the Double Tourbillon 30° contemporary line after six successful years.  This model represents the foundation of notion for the inventions that followed throughout the years. The decision to cease the Double Tourbillon 30° Contemporary line is momentous which enables Greubel Forsey to channel energy in formulating new systems and creations and in exploring new avenues.

The engraving on the case is absolutely stunning and incredibly complex. The 3D structured text on the dial and curved plates affixed to the sides of the case reveal the philosophy and spirit of Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey as creators of these outstanding timepieces.   As a result, the watch was honoured with 3rd place in the "Men's Watch" category as voted by the public at The Watch Days exhibition held in Geneva as well as the top prize of "Aiguille d'Or" at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève of that year.

The Double Tourbillon 30° ‘Edition Historique’ was offered in a unique edition of 11 pieces in 5N red gold numbered from 165 to 175 and 11 pieces in platinum numbered from 176 to 186.  The present platinum example is number 180/186 offering collectors one last chance to acquire such extraordinary timepiece.
