Designed as a heart composed of scrollwork motifs, centering a round emerald weighing 2.82 carats, accented by two old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.00 carats, further set with smaller old European and old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat, framed by 12 pearls measuring approximately 4.4 to 4.2 mm, signed Marcus & Co., fitted with retractable pendant loop; circa 1900.

Condition

In good condition overall. The emerald is a very rich medium slightly bluish green and slightly included, with a few examples of surface-reaching inclusions near the girdle and some small chips at the girdle. The pearls are spherical, of a creamy ivory hue with overtones of golden and silver, with very good to good luster and minute to minor blemishing. The two larger old European-cut diamonds are approximately H-I color and VS clarity, with a few small chips around the girdles, as is typical with this age of material. Remainder of the smaller diamonds are approximately G-J color and VS-SI clarity. Signed Marcus & Co on lower left rim (facing ) of reverse. Dimensions approximately 1 1/2 x 1 3/8 inches. Accompanied by GIA report no. 2155835944 stating that the pearls are natural, saltwater. Accompanied by AGL report no. CS 58580 stating that the emerald is of Classic Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity enhancement.
