Condition

Overall in very good condition. According to noted Brandt expert and author, Joan Karh, this example is executed in gilt bronze with traces visible to the base and the articulation of the snake skin on the standard. There is slightly uneven darker patination that been applied to the standard and base in its entirety. The darker patination serves to height the sculptural detailing of the basket woven base and snake skin. The base and isolated areas of the standard with some visible brushstrokes of dark patination. The metal elements of the lamps also appear to have been recently waxed. Surface dirt to recessed portion of the design. The midpoint of the standard with a minor indentation likely the result of handling. The glass shade with abrasions to the exterior where is has rubbed against the bronze structure from handling and use. The lower aperture of the shade is slightly uneven, but the shade sits straight overall. The shade with a wonderfully vibrant color palette ranging in from pink to burnt orange hues. Floor switch possibly original. A very good example of this iconic design showing fine articulation of the sculptural detailing throughout complemented by a vibrantly hued shade.
