thickly cut in rectangular form, both sides finely incised with excerpts from Confucian classics, the characters inlaid with gilt, the verse on one side from the Analects, reminding gentlemen of the nine things of which they should be mindful, followed by two seals reading zheng and xin, the verse on the other side based on teachings from the Daxue (Great Learning), extolling the virtues of humbleness, intelligence and respect, followed by two seals reading gu and xiang, all between bands of scrolling clouds, the stone of an even white color
