Catalogue Note

When The Wombles at Work was first published in 1973 it carried illustrations by Margaret Gordon. The illustrations represented here are for the 1976 edition, as published by Ernest Benn Limited, which reflect the appearance of the Wombles as made familiar by the Ivor Wood stop-motion animated television series.

In addition to the frontispiece there are five illustrations from 'Great Uncle Bulgaria's great idea', four illustrations from 'Tomsk and the sick swan', and three illustrations from 'The vanishing tidy-bags'.
