This picture was presented by Sir George Leveson Gower to Mrs Winston Spencer Churchill to commemorate the Prime Minister's visit to Egypt in 1942 during the War when he was officially referred to as Mr Bullfinch, August 241942.
Not examined out of frame. On extremely close examination there is minor craquelure across the paint surface. There are several areas of paint loss in the lower left quadrant. The larger of these measure approximately 8 x 12mm. There is old retouching to the paint losses.
Ultraviolet light reveals florescence consistent with the areas of paint loss.
The picture is presented in an ornate gilded frame.
