Description

of square section with indented corners, the straight tapered sides supported on a small recessed foot, delicately inlaid around the exterior in iridescent slivers of mother-of-pearl, two sides with two scholars conversing in a landscape, the others with garden rocks either issuing trees or supporting a pagoda, between a border of interlocked florets at the rim and a band of ruyi around the base, the interior, base and rim lined with metal

Condition

There is some light wear and minute scratches in areas and light tarnishing or minor losses to the inlays, predominantly at the lower corners, but overall the lacquer cup is in good condition and the mother-of-pearl inlays well preserved. The metal lining on the interior and base is lightly oxidized.
