Catalogue Note

Gandhi will not respond to critics.

An activist in the "Women's International League for Peace and Freedom," and a devoted reader of Young India has been hurt by Dr. Wolfgang von Weisl's two articles about India in the Vossiche Zeitung and writes to Gandhi on 23 March 1928, enclosing the articles with a request to correct the writer if desired. Gandhi responds using a secretary: "Though the extracts that you send me are certainly vicious, I do not feel inclined to answer. It would be too great an undertaking to answer all criticisms whether foreign or indigenous. All one can hope for is that one's actions would speak for themselves."
