Description

  • Turtleshell, brass, steel, oak, bronze
  • Clock 93.5cm. 36¾ in. high; Bracket 42cm. 16½in. high
9-inch dial with enamel cartouche numerals, the movement with five vase-turned pillars verge escapement, silk suspension, numbered outside count wheel striking on a bell, signed on the backplate Lancelot A Paris, the case surmounted by an angel with trumpet above flambeau finials and canted corners with female terms, the scroll supports mounted on seated horses, the whole veneered in red shell and inlaid with folliate scrolls, birds and masks; on a conforming bracket

Condition

Dial in generally good condition, hair cracks to XII and V. Movement appears to be complete but much in need of a clean. Case has some old repairs to veneers, gilding generally very rubbed, brass banding loose to one foot, otherwise generally good. Bracket as the case. No pendulum, winder or case key.
