Description

  • wool, sequence, silk
worked with polychrome silk embroidered flowers, applied with sequins and edged with metal-thread design around the edge, all against a hazelnut coloured wool ground; lined with pieces of saffron yellow silk, designed as a cloak with train

Condition

Comprised of joined vertical panels, shaped around the end of the train. Metal edging does not join or run over two panels at the end on one side, and does on the other. Quite crude joining of the panels, and some elements are worked over the joins, most are not. The top is very simple – scoop neck –simply turned over. Sits most neatly across top of shoulders (if to stay flat). The front has two small long tabs with spherical metal motifs running along them as decoration. These tabs are integral to the panel from which they emanate and are not later additions. However it would need a clasp or something added to hold together – as not very adequate, as viewed.
