Description

  • Mahogany, bropnze, steel, brass
  • 65cm. 25½in. high
5-inch enamel dial signed Jn Baptiste Baillon, asymetric winding holes, the bell striking movement with numbered outside count weel, anchor escapement with silk suspension, signed on the backplate J Bte Baillon A Paris, No.2516, the drum surmounted by a cockerel and supported on the back of a roaring lion, on a finely chased rococo scroll base, the associated casket base, probably re-veneered and formerly containing a musical movement, applied with crisply cast and chased foliate mounts, the clock and casket stamped throughout with the crowned 'C' poincon 

Condition

Dial has minor chips and repairs to both winding holes. Movement is complete but very much in need of a clean. The case mounts throughout with original gilding, some damage to cockerel cresting, associated casket base is probably re-veneered and is lacking the musical movement, redundant and altered holes to side of drum case and base. With pendulum, winder and case key.
