Condition

Under UV light are visible retouching on the tops of the nails of the lower edge, on some tops of the upper edge and some other spread allover. By the center of the lower edge between the nail 6 and 10 there is an area of restoration. Around the nail 5 of the fourth line of nails there is a restored area. There are some veiled retouched areas by thin craquelures and soiling trace.

Catalogue Note

Fu chiesto a Ike-no-Taiga (1723-1776), maestro della pittura giapponese del periodo Edo, quale fosse la cosa più difficile da dipingere. Egli Rispose: “Dingere uno spazio bianco dove nulla assolutamente viene raffigurato”.
