Under naked eye: the painting appears in good condition.
It s been relined and the edge are slightly won in places behind the frame
Under UV light : Several tiny retouches along the edges where the material is worn. A few tiny retouches in the man's clothes and in the column at the left hand side. A few tiny retouches scattered over the surface

Catalogue Note
Beyle séjourne en Algérie entre 1867 et 1880. Il a certainement visité les palais algérois ornés de carrelages de céramiques tels ceux que l'on voit sur notre tableau. Il expose au Salon de Paris plusieurs tableaux de sujets orientaux, par exemple Yamina, mauresque d'Alger en 1877 et La parure de la mariée, Algérie en 1878.
