Catalogue Note

"Dentzel" was a horse owned by one of the Kuerner's and resided on the Kuerner Farm, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.  He was most likely named for Gustav Dentzel of Philadelphia, a master carver of carousel horses and figures.  A carousel by Dentzel once stood in Lenape Park along the Brandywine River, near Chadds Ford.
