Condition

Overall very good condition. The shade with approximately 10-12 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. Two of the glass tiles along the bottom border display hairline cracks with some small and minor associated edge losses to the glass (these hairlines are both stable). The shade leading, base and hardware all display a complementary metallic golden brown patina, reinforcing that all of these components originated together since the period. The base with a few minor scattered light surface scratches, gentle rubbing to the patina at the high points of the feet, and light and minor scattered discolorations consistent with age and use. The patinated surfaces of the base display a textured mottled finish, giving a strong sense of tactility to the lamp. All of the sockets and switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The finial appears to be original to the lamp and displays gentle surface wear and rubbing. When viewed in person the shade is less saturated and less red than seen in the catalogue illustration. When illuminated the nuances of the orange and yellow toned mottled background glass complement the deep garnet reds and magentas of the poppy blooms. The metal foliate overlaid elements provide a wonderfully impressionistic and artistic effect of the deep green foliate design. A particularly artistic glass selection for the model.
