Description

  • Olga Boznanska
  • Etienne Collignon
  • signed Olga Boznanska upper right
  • oil on board
  • 58 by 40cm., 22¾ by 15¾in.

Provenance

Etienne Collignon, Paris (commissioned from the artist)
Private Collection, France
Purchased by the present owners in 2007

Literature

Maria Rostwarawska, Portret za mgłą. Opowieść o Oldze Boznańskiej, Krakow, 2003, p. 263

Condition

The board is flat and even. As just visible in the catalogue illustration there are a number of small spots of surface abrasion, notably in the sitter's left cheek and jacket in the lower right quadrant. Under ultra-violet light a number of the pigments fluoresce notably in his jacket and skin pigments, however these would certainly appear to be the artist's originals rather than clearly corresponding to retouching. Presented in a decorative gilt frame, with a fabric-covered inner slip.
