The canvas has been relined. Under ultra-violet light the old varnish fluoresces quite opaquely overall except in the view through the doorway possibly suggesting a selective clean in the past; numerous retouchings are visible notably in the man seated against the wall to the left of the dancer, in the faces of the figures, an area in the wall above the figures seated to the right, strokes addressing old paint shrinkage in the signature and possibly strengthening to the signature itself, and strokes along the framing edges. The appearance of the work under normal light is good overall and it is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
