Catalogue Note

Vassilli Yacovlevich Grachev’s (1831-1905) sculpture perfectly captures the realistic sense of movement and action for which the sculpture was best known. The three horses, unnerved by the peasant’s sled, as well as the Nobleman in the troika display a fantastic sense of animation which is incredibly vivid.
