Description
- David Mach
- Dalmatian Balancing a Washing Machine
- metal and painted plaster
- height: 183cm., 72in.
Provenance
Christie's, London, 9 November 1990, lot 377
Exhibited
London, Tate, David Mach, 101 Dalmations, Work in Progress, 1988, illustrated
Condition
The work is formed of a washing machine balancing on a plaster model of a dog. The machine does wobble slightly, but appears secure in its fixing. There is, however, a crack running around the neck of the dog, with two small areas of loss to the plaster visible. Elsewhere there is surface dirt and ware to the machine, including slight traces of very light rusting, in keeping with the artist's technique and the subject matter.
Viewing is recommended.
