Condition
The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered old retouchings, notably strokes in the nude figure and putto, in a circa 5 by 4cm area below the nude's left hand, and small strokes in the backgorund. The overall appearance of this work is good and it is ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative dark wood frame with a raised gilt motif.

The present work is a design for the decoration of the celebrated Cabaret venue Le Chat Noir in Montmartre, where Willette, along with other members of Parisian late nineteenth-century artistic life, was in regular attendance.
