The present firm of Garrard & Co Ltd of Albemarle Street, London, was established by George Wickes in 1722. The company went through various changes of partnership, including that of Robert Garrard (1793-1881), James Garrard (1795-1870) and Sebastian Garrard (1798-1870), trading between 1818 and about 1835 as Robert Garrard & Brothers, until it was converted into a limited liability company in 1909.
