- bronze: 44.5cm.,17½in.; base: 13cm., 5 1/8 in.
Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few spots of greening including to the feet and base. There are some dirt residues including to the hat and to the base. There are a few nicks and scratches. There are a few areas of red paint including to the proper right side of the figure. There are also a few splashes of white paint. There is wear to the base including a few chips to the wood and some paint residues. The fabric lining the underside of the base is in fragmentary condition. There is a blue plastic label to the underside printed: MOD/5458

Catalogue Note
Wade exhibited the terracotta model of this figure at the Royal Academy in 1890 (no. 1981), when his studio was located at 8 Pont Street, Chelsea.
