Condition

This is an attractive and useful decorative object. The rosewood has signs of discolouration and there are marks and scratches. The paper label for Thomas Mills is distressed. Acquired from Christie's London, lot 192, 10.3.05.

Catalogue Note

Thomas Mills built up a very successful business in Bradford. He was to supply legendry Victorian industrialist and philanthropist Sir Titus Salt (1803-1876) with furniture for his boardroom at the Saltaire Mill complex in 1835.
