Catalogue Note

The theme for this panel is a variant of Gustav Klimt's 1898 work 'Pallas Athene' and was revisited by Forstner in a larger mosaic panel for his own workshop, Mosaik-Werkstätte, Vienna, which he opened in 1908.

This lot is believed to have been presented by Klimt to Koloman Moser for his housewarming at Hohen Warte, Moser's house which was designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1903.
