- A RARE AND AMUSING YELLOW GOLD, ENAMEL AND RUBY-SET FROG-FORM TRAVEL WATCHCIRCA 1960
- gold, enamel, and ruby - watch in shape of frog
- length 41 mm
• rectangular manual winding movement,17 jewels • concealed silvered dial, applied baton indexes • the watch housed within a realistic 18k gold frog-form case, the simulated skin composed of translucent green enamel over a textured ground, cabochon ruby-set eyes, sliding open at the midsection to reveal the watch • dial signed Tiffany & Co. and Movado, watch movement and case signed Movado, case signed Tiffany
Condition
A charming piece, and very well executed. The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may require service soon. The dial is presently lacking a crystal and shows some light aging.
The interior of the movement case is stamped 14k and numbered 4BG and 643, as well as USA Movado. The movement is further stamped F Ries on mvt. The eyes do seem to have some surface scratches and there are some light surface scuffs to the gold. The enamel is very well preserved with no visible imperfections or signs of restoration.

Catalogue Note
The present example is of particular note for the exquisite rendering of the frog. The high quality of workmanship of this creation makes it a lifelike and charming objet d'art and such that only the master craftsman at Tiffany could execute.
