Oblong folio (258 x 347mm.), 91 matt and glossy silver prints (97 x 138mm. to 118 x 165mm., or the reverse), mounted on thick card, mostly in pairs, recto and verso, captions in ink on the mount, together with 6 slightly later photographs or illustrations of the Alps, contemporary black morocco-backed lacquered wooden boards, upper cover with dragon design, some fading or discoloration and surface wear to photographs, binding rather chipped and rubbed

Catalogue Note

An interesting album of photographs compiled by a German mariner during service in Southeast Asia in 1907-10 on board SMS Leipzig (commissioned April 1906), which was first assigned to the German navy's East Asia Squadron. The photographs include views, people and shipping around Nanking, Hong Kong, Amoy, Kobe, Colombo, Samoa, Port Said, Singapore and Manila. For a very similar album see lot 194.
