Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 30 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. These cracks have been sensitively stabilized with Hextal, an archival resin that will not discolor over time and also tends to minimize the appearance of cracks in glass. The patinated bronze base displays a rich russet brown and deep green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches, rubbing, and with areas of surface soiling and residue consistent with age and gentle use. The end terminals of the shade arms with minor surface rubbing due to continued surface contact with the shade over time. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. With a reproduction drop finial that displays a closely corresponding patina to the base. The glass selection displays with luminous jewel tones of purples, yellow, deep cobalt, orange and red in the articulation of the pansy blossoms. The background glass is articulated with vigorously mottled green and celadon glass which imparts an impressionistic sense of a lush flower garden. When viewed in person the shade displays as slightly less saturated and less red than shown in the catalogue illustration, and presents with more nuanced depth and coloration in the articulation of the pansy clusters.
