Condition

Overall in very good condition. When this rare shade was recently discovered from a New Jersey estate, it was lacking the top aperture ring and top geometric border of glass. The shade has since been conserved by a professional Tiffany restorer. The top geometric border has been sensitively restored with period Tiffany glass that is harmonious in color palette to the rest of the shade. This restoration does not detract from the overall visual presentation of the shade and is completely independent from the primary floral field. The shade with approximately 15-18 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. A few of the glass tiles with very small and minor edge flecks along the adjacent contours of the shade leading. With surface soiling to the recessed contours of the glass and shade leading consistent with age. The base displays an outstanding rich russet brown patina highlighted with tones of green. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with some occasional light surface scratches and abrasions, light rubbing, and traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours around the coiled decoration consistent with age and gentle use. The outermost perimeter contours of the cushion base with some rubbing and very small and minor associated patina losses. The socket cluster, riser and shade arms with light surface wear and surface soiling. The end terminals of the shade arms with rubbing from continued surface contact over time with the shade. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed and each of the three sockets retain their original bakelite insulators. With a period drop finial that displays a closely corresponding patina to the shade leading. A superb example of this exceedingly rare model displaying an outstanding glass selection distinguished by the artistic use of “Confetti,” rippled and mottled glass. Each glass tile displays great artistic nuance, imparting the shade with a tremendous amount of visual interest and depth.
