Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, which is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of small glass tiles that were required to execute this complex shade. The shade leading is finely executed, expertly delineating the delicate curvature of the daffodil and narcissus blossoms, and displaying a rich russet brown and green patina. The shade fits comfortably within the base ring allowing for 1/8 inch distance around the shade. The elaborately articulated “Twisted Vine” base displays an exceptionally rich and layered russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches, light rubbing, and surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design consistent with age and gentle use. As expected with this base model, a few of the curvilinear shade arms on the base exhibit subtle undulations presumably from being re-aligned in the past. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. Lacking cord bushing around the perimeter edge of the base cushion. The period finial displays a complementary russet brown and green patina to the base. The upper knop with some minor surface abrasions and small areas of patina loss. When viewed in person the shade is slightly less saturated and less red than seen in the catalogue illustrations. The lamp displays beautifully, exhibiting a highly sculptural and harmonious shade and base pairing. The shade displays a particularly artistic and thoughtful glass selection, distinguished by the cobalt blue background glass and thoughtful shading to the various flower blossoms. The larger daffodil blossoms are articulated in vigorously mottled glass, imparting the flowers with a naturalistic expression of dimensionality.
