consisting of a wood carcass covered in Red Duiker (Cephalophus natalensis) hide, with attachments of Human (Homo sapiens) hair.

Condition

Good condition for an object of this material, age, and rare type. Hide covering is dry, with cracks and small losses throughout. Vertical cracks and separation where the two sides meet between the ears. Some scattered worm holes. Losses to teeth. Small losses to holes around bottom edge for attachment to basketry substructure. Wood inside is aged and worn with small losses. Very fine glossy partially blackened leather patina. Eyes of the light-colored face are inset with metal; metal is tarnished with scratches.
