Catalogue Note

The two light blue leaf-formed palmettes along the central vertical axis of this rug take the form usually used for smaller, supporting motifs in many Isphahan rugs and carpets including lots 3 and 5 in this catalogue.   In coloring and the placement of these palmettes, where they are flanked by four twirling florettes, the design of this rug is very similar to that of lot 14 in this catalogue.
