Description

  • height 22cm, 8 3/4 in.
the three panels rectangular with glazed fronts within chased leaf borders, the corners with rosettes, the side panels hinged, on arched reeded legs and paw feet, ribbon tie surmount, the backs of silver, the central panel inscribed in German and dated 'Farewell party/ St Petersburg/ 29 Dec. 1898/ 10 Jan. 1899', struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard, the side panels containing cards with signatures in pencil of the party attendees headed 'Wladimir/ 29 Dec 1898/ 10 Janvier 1899', the central panel containing a modern print of an unrelated circa 1865 photograph of the future Emperor Alexander III and three of his cousins
