the lid inset with a plaque brightly painted en plein after Konstantin Makovsky's Boyar Wedding Feast (1883) within a turquoise bead frame, the lid border and sides with shaded polychrome cloisonné enamel scrolling foliage on cream-coloured grounds, the front and back each with a central ogival foliate form, the corners decorated with brackets, geometric borders, the sides with hinged handles, bracket feet, 88 standard, Dutch control mark
