Description

  • giltwood frame 30cm. x 26cm.; 11¾in., 10¼in.
enclosing a reverse painting on glass depicting the Holy Family and the three Magi, together with a carved giltwood frame enclosing an Italian silk embroidered panel depicting the Madonna and Child, Sicily, 18th century, (26cm. x 20.5cm.) and an Italian mirror with a painting on glass, within a painted faux walnut and parcel-gilt frame, 19th century (52.5cm. x 46.5cm.)

Condition

Holy family: old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and use. The frame is dirty which would benefit from a light clean and there are construction cracks at the joints. Silk panel Madonna and child: The frame has some minor chips to the gilding with some minor hairline cracks. Painting on glass: some wear to the painted decoration on the frame. Some losses to the painted decoration on the glass panel as visible from the catalogue photograph.
