Description

  • walnut, pine, poplar, marble
  • each 87cm. high, 140cm. wide, 60cm. deep; 2ft. 10¼in., 4ft. 7¼in., 1ft. 11¾in.
each with a later inset Siena marble top, with two short drawers above two long drawers, the reverse of one with a printed paper label; handles replaced

Condition

In overall good conserved condition and can be placed immediately. Colour of the wood slightly less orange more natural and attractive than in the catalogue photograph and the rear marble top on p. 119 is more yellow. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches generally commensurate with age and normal usage. There is a very minor section approx 6cm of the left edge of the moulding on the top drawer of one which is missing.There is evidence of previous handles. There are several vertical hairline cracks and other cracks generally including construction cracks which can either be left or filled. One the same commode there is a vertical crack approx 26cm long on the rear right stile which would benefit from some minor restoration. There are some minor restorations to the marble tops which have been very well executed and are hardly noticeable. Both with two partly illegible ink inscribed paper labels.
