Condition
The painting appears to be in largely good condition and the catalogue illustration is fairly representative. The canvas has a firm lining, however the paint surface has not been overly rubbed or pressed into the canvas. There is old visible retouching in the sky, upper right, to minor past damage, and similarly in the sky upper centre, which do not detract from the overall composition of the painting. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals no apparent signs of recent restoration or retouching. Held in a gilded wooden slip frame.
