Description

  • John Martin
  • Figures in a classical landscape
  • Watercolour over pencil, heightened with scratching out, unframed
  • 114 by 168 mm

Condition

The colours have remained strong and vibrant. It would appear that the work has not been exposed to a significant amount of light. There is evidence of some minor fox-marks (particularly in the sky) and the upper left and right corners of the sheet have discoloured somewhat. At the extreme right hand edge of the sheet there are two areas where the sheet has been rubbed. These can only be seen on very close inspection. The work has not been laid down.
