Provenance

Private collection, Philadelphia since before 1920
Inherited from the above by the present owner in 1975

Condition

Oil on canvas mounted on Masonite. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from light surface dirt and a stable, fine web of textured craquelure evident in mainly the upper half if the picture. Under UV light, there is inpainting to address this craquelure, especially in the sky. There are also small scattered spots of inpainting across the picture surface, including an area in the clouds at left and a repaired horizontal year near the figures in the lower left corner.
