Condition
Oil on canvas with a glue lining. The original canvas edge is visible along the upper edge in the present framing. The picture surface has areas of dullness scattered across the picture plane; under UV, these areas fluoresce and are old inpaints. There are areas of scattered inpainting across the work, notably in the background and along the lower edge in the sitters red cape. There are dots and dashes of inpainting in the figures hair, left hand, arm and white sleeve. There is an area of inpainting to the left of the sitters right eye and two horizontal lines of inpainting in the sitters chest.
