With van Diemen-Lilienfield, New York (according to a label on the reverse).

Condition

Oil on canvas with an old lining. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from some flattening, especially in the old man's beard and mustache, and craquelure and pigment separation in the background. Under UV light, there is a thick, uneven, masking varnish. Some spots of retouching in the background are visible over varnish.
