Catalogue Note

All 17 volumes of this the first attempt at a 'complete' edition of Mozart's works are rarely offered at auction. The series contains a number of first editions, including of the Piano Sonatas K.279-283 (1799), and the Prelude and Fugue in C for piano, K.394 (1800).

Heinrich Henkel (1822-1899), whose ownership inscription appears on Cahier IV, is well known in the literature for his role in cataloguing Johann Anton André’s great collection of Mozart autographs, which was acquired from Constanze Mozart.
