4to (210 x 151mm.), [8], 374ff. only (of 770) containing the Old Testament up to Psalms, title within woodcut border, woodcut initials and headpieces, contemporary Cambridge binding by Nicholas Spierinck, wide roll-tooled border (Oldham AN.f (2) 562) with small central panel made of quatrefoils (Oldham DI.a (2) 604), rebacked retaining part of original spine, early printer's waste used as board liners, vellum manuscript pastedowns (now lifted) from an Italian manuscript c. 1300, lettered horizontally along foredge "PRIMA. P.B.", early manuscript verse numbering in Genesis, a few early manuscript annotations, rebacked, binding slightly rubbed with a few repairs to edges

Edward Haselhurst (son of Roger) baptised 3 August 1615, born in Sutton in the parish of Drayton-in-Hales in the county of Shropshire, 27 July 1615, inscription dated 1641; Josh. Winter, Derby, 10 March 1737/8, inscriptions on title-page

The Rev. Joshua Winter can be connected with the early days of the Derby Philosophical Society, founded by Erasmus Darwin in 1783.
