Catalogue Note

This is an important manuscript of a complete work by the Austrian composer, theorist, organist, friend of Mozart and teacher of Beethoven, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger (1736-1809).  Of particular interest are the additions and alterations to the dynamic and tempo markings, phrase markings, figured bass and the word underlay.  Albrechtsberger's oratorio was first performed at the Kärntnerthortheater in Vienna on 1 April 1781. Another scribal score of the work is preserved in the archive of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, Vienna.
