Catalogue Note

First edition. Falloppio (1523-1562), pupil of and successor to Vesalius in the Chair of Anatomy at Padua, respectfully notes in this text some errors of Vesalius's De humani corporis fabrica of 1543. "Observationes was Falloppius' most important work and the only one published in his lifetime" (Eimas), and it includes his renowned description of the uterine, now Fallopian, tubes. It was quickly reissued by Ulmo in 1562, with some of the text reprinted and the now redundant errata leaf (*8) cancelled.
