The case formed of one hollowed section of lapis lazuli, the top and bottom decorated with an openwork meander pattern and borders of numerous rose-cut diamonds, the front surmounted by a rose-cut diamond plaque of a griffin head, the sides accented by two small cabochon sapphires, signed Janesich, No. 16, 221; circa 1925.

Condition

In good condition. Evidence of a previous chip to lapis at bottom back edge which appears to have been ground and polished to retain the original shape of the frame. The lapis lazuli surface is abraded throughout.. Diamonds are of decorative quality. Signed and numbered on interior lip of the lid. To open, press the cabochon sapphire at right (facing) of the lid. Measures 3 x 1 7/8 x 5/8 inches.
